Some Most Quirky Viruses Found, Says Panda Security

Security software developer, Panda Security, recently collated a number of very interesting computer viruses that were found over the last six months of January-June 2008. These viruses include some of the most cleanest, informative and creepiest worms.

As per the research, the crown of ‘creepiest’ viruses goes to AdvancedXpFixer and MalwareProtector2008, which load the victim computers fully with bugs that devour the desktop. These viruses actually attempt to trick users into purchasing security software of the virus maker.

Anti-Virus With Large Number of Vulnerabilities Allowing Network Infiltration

Experts from n.runs AG together with other specialists have detected about 800 flaws in various anti-virus products available in the market. According to them, far from safeguarding networks, anti-virus software widely opens doors for attackers.

Based on the tests conducted by the consulting firm and solutions creator n.runs, it has been found that there are several critical vulnerabilities in each virus scanners currently available. 5.5 Million System Infected with New Viruses in Vietnam Last Month

A leading cyber security center in Vietnam claimed that during June 2008, almost 2,600 new viruses attacked around 5.5 Million systems. It also said that most of the attacks hailed from outside Vietnam.

BKIS (Bach Khoa Inter-network Security Center) said that accompanied with viruses, adware and spyware have also emerged as a major threat to web users in the country.
